3 Ways to Help Stop The Spread of the Flu in Your Building

It’s that time of year. And boy is it hitting us hard! It is officially flu season. Here are a few tips to keep your tenants healthy.

  1. Frequently Wash Your Hands. This is an easy one and one of the most effective ways of avoiding catching the flu. Unwashed hands are a breeding ground for the ‘bad’ bacteria to accumulate and eventually make their way into your body via your face by touching or by placing fingers into or near your nose and mouth. TIP: Don’t have soap and water? Hand sanitizer is a good substitute to hold you over.

  2. Stay Home. Workaholics, please resist going to work and potentially exposing your coworkers to this aggressive strain of flu. This also goes for social butterflies. The truth is staying home and relaxing allows your body to fight flu more effectively. You’ll be doing both the general population as well as yourself a huge favor! TIP: Can’t resist the urge for social interaction? Try social media, there are a lot of apps that offer live streaming, you won’t feel like you are missing a beat.

  3. Disinfect Hard Surfaces With Hospital Grade Disinfectant Cleaner. Since the influenza virus (the flu) can survive on hard surfaces for up to 8 hours (!) it is important to disinfect, and disinfect often. TIP: Generally, the most used surfaces are shared computer keyboards, telephone receivers, coffee machines, refrigerator doors, doorknobs, elevator buttons, faucet handles, counter tops, railings. Disinfecting these surfaces will help to combat the flu with minor effort.
